ARCTIC TOPO
05.01. – 14.02.2025
Kultur Bahnhof Holm-Seppensen e.V., Bahnhofsweg 4, 21244 Holm-Seppensen

ARCTIC TERRAIN
25.04. - 14.08.2024
Nordatlantisk Hus, Nordatlantisk Promenade 1, 5000 Odense C
Simply put, ARCTIC TERRAIN explores the inescapable association between humans and their environment, inspired by Greenland, but with a global reach. The land, the shape of the land, the topography, relentlessly changes. This happens on geological timescales, but also quickly, and dramatically in human timescales. Landscape influences us in imposing limitations on where we go, what we build, how we live. At the same time, we influence our landscape – modifying, changing, controlling. Although we clearly see the consequences of our built environment, increasingly we realise that our strongest impacts are in the landscape of our changing climate. Where we push, we experience push-back. ARCTIC TERRAIN recognises the continuous cycle of rise and fall, ebb and flow, action and reaction. And ARCTIC TERRAIN tries to dispel the idea that we are overlords, visitors, distinct entities from our environment. On the contrary, we are our environment, we are Earth.

The exhibition grows from a five year collaboration between the two artists - Girl in the Tangerine and Mark Hutchison (mthStudios). It showcases pieces from several projects representing different extents of artist interaction, from pieces inspired by each other to pieces created equally.

Colliding Arctic - Climate Justice Days Århus
20. – 24.09.2023
Domen, Inge Lehmanns Gade 22, 8000 Aarhus
The exhibited art collection has been exclusively made for presentation at Domen during the Climate Justice Days in Århus. Here she focuses on one of the regions that are most vulnerable to climate change – Greenland, the country that experiences the most rapid warming on Earth. As a consequence of global warming, the Greenlandic Ice Sheet with its many glaciers, currently melts at a record pace. The Greenlandic coastline faces massive shoreline erosion caused by sea level rise as a result of increasing melting of the ice. Greenhouse gasses, which have been enclosed as solid carbon materials such as oil and coal for millions of years, are being released to the atmosphere and have huge impacts on Earth`s population.
These three concepts of ice loss, coastal erosion and carbon release are expressed in the “Girl in the Tangerine`s” portfolio. Each art work represents a Greenlandic region shown on collaged and re-imagined geological maps. The aim is to draw attention to Greenland as one of the most climate change-affected regions in the world through the abstractions and colours in the art works.
