SOUTHERN GREENLAND

South Greenland is a border. A border between the ravages of the wild Atlantic and the icy monolith that is ancient Greenland. It is a border in climate – home of the vikings and an Arctic oasis bordering the icy walls which lie to the north. Geologically it is a border. South Greenland testifies to ancient mountains, the Ketilidians, which rose and fell bordering the south extent of the great Archean North Atlantic Craton. Over millennia Earth’s great continental plates slowly smashed against the stoical core of Greenland, folding, fracturing, concertinaing, and eventually calming to the tapestry of exotic, multi-coloured rocks of South Greenland.
